Addendum

ReDem has a Settings Menu to allow selection of:

Logging: Enable or disable a log of ReDem and user actions. If enabled the file is saved as "Log.txt" in the ReDem directory.

Tile Compression: Disable generation of compressed tile files (*.bin). By default ReDem generates compressed Tiles in *.bin format. Disabling compression will cause ReDem to generate tiles in *.xml format.

Downloading Seamless Data

To begin downloading seamless data in BIL format browse to the USGS Seamless Viewer and select "Define Download Area By Coordinates". It's best to open the link in a new browser window.

The SDDS Gazetteer Window will open:

Click on "Switch to Decimal Degrees" to switch to decimal degrees:

And enter the "left, top, right, bottom" limits from ReDem's Suggested DEM Bounds Panel.

Click on the "Add Area" button.

A "Request Summary" window will appear:

The data request has defaulted to ArcGRID format and 1 Arc Second resolution. Click on "Modify Data Request" and scroll down to the "National Elevation Dataset (NED)" row that lists the resolution you want. Click on the box in the row with the resolution you want. The server may take a few seconds to respond. The image below shows that we have selected 1/3 Arc Second data.

Use the drop down menu on the left of the right column to select BIL format as shown below:

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "Save Changes & Return to Summary".

A new "Request Summary" page will appear: showing your changes:

If the summary shows the correct output format (BIL) and resolution, click on "Download" and wait for the server to respond with "Order Status":

The server should eventually complete the request:

Click on "here" to begin download of the BIL (some browsers may present an additional window to begin download). After the download is complete unzip the BIL into a folder of your choice and continue with ReDem.
